When is the Fortnite first person mode release date?

The rumours surrounding this possible new game mode have been circulating with great traction on Twitter, with renowned leaker HYPEX stating that a reliable source has informed them of the new game mode. Supposedly, it's coming to the game next season. Therefore, that places the Fortnite first person mode release date around June 2023. The tweet can be seen here, with what looks to be an artistic rendering of the first person feature:

Whether this comes to fruition, we will certainly have to wait and see. For now, all we can do is speculate that first person will arrive in Fortnite with Chapter 4 Season 3 this summer.

How will first person mode work in Fortnite?

To see how this game mode might function, if eventually implemented in the game, we can look to previous features added to the game. Most notably, there's Fortnite’s zero build mode.

This game feature allows for players to compete in the battle royale setting without having the added benefit of building, changing the way in which the game is played completely. With this came an option to turn the zero build feature off, so to not be placed in matches with this game mode.

If introduced to the game, we might see the first person mode handled in a similar fashion to this, with a toggle to set the feature on and off as the player desires.

Another possibility could follow in the footsteps of games like Red Dead Redemption 2, in which the player can switch between a third person and first person perspective with a simple button prompt. This would allow for players to switch their perspective depending on the task at hand, opening up a wide variety of new strategies to compete to stay alive for a shot at the number one spot.
