How Long Could The Wait For The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Be?
There is currently no confirmed release date for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, however, there are a few leaks and rumours surrounding the upcoming smartwatch.
In an article from the South Korean site, The Elec, they claim that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 will arrive sometime in the second half of 2022.
While it is worth taking any unofficial leak with a pinch of salt, this release date would make sense if we look at past examples.

Given that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 arrived in August 2021 and the Galaxy Watch 3 was released in August 2020, an August 2022 release for the Galaxy Watch 5 could be likely.
Of course, at the moment this is all speculation and we'll be sure to update you with the official release date once confirmed by Samsung.
There are also no official specs for the Galaxy Watch 5 and with the release likely a long way off, leaks for upcoming specs are currently a little thin on the ground too.
With the release of the Galaxy Watch 5 looking like it could be several months away, it begs the question as to whether the current Galaxy Watch 4 is worth buying now?

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is still relatively new, having been released in August 2021 and offers a variety of enticing features and specs.

The smaller 40mm Galaxy Watch 4 costs $249.99 / £249 for the Bluetooth version while the LTE edition will set you back $299.99 / £289.
If you're interested in the larger 44mm watch, it costs $279.99 / £269 for the Bluetooth edition and the LTE version comes in at $329.99 / £309.
Specs
In terms of power, the Galaxy Watch 4 features an Exynos W920 chipset and 1.5 GB of RAM, this should be plenty of power to run the watch apps smoothly and quickly.
The Watch features 16GB of storage, which gives you a decent amount of space to load your own files, such as music.
In terms of display, you're getting a 30.4mm / 34.6mm (main display) with Super AMOLED technology and up to a 450 x 450 pixels resolution.
Plus, the Galaxy Watch 4 is equipped with a wide range of sensors such as an Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, Light Sensor and more.
Features
The Galaxy Watch 4 comes with Wear OS, which allows you to easily connect to your other Samsung Galaxy devices.
You are able to control apps on your Galaxy smartphone or adjust the levels of active noise-cancellation on your Galaxy buds directly from your watch.
You'll also get a large variety of health and fitness apps, which combined with in-built sensors make this watch a great workout companion.
You're able to measure your ECG and blood pressure and you can track your workouts, count steps, check calories and much more.
The Galaxy Watch 4 is also water-resistant for up to 30-minutes and offers up to 40 hours of battery life.
You can also use the smartwatch to share messages, set alarms and even record how well you're sleeping.
Should I Wait For The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5?
Ultimately, whether or not you want to wait for the new Galaxy Watch 5 is up to you, however, at the current time, we'd say grabbing yourself the Galaxy Watch 4 is a good option.
First off, the Galaxy Watch 5 is likely still several months away and so you could be waiting a while before you can upgrade.
There is also no official information about the specs for the upcoming Galaxy Watch 5 and there doesn't seem to be any leaks or rumours regarding what we might see.
Plus, the Galaxy Watch 4 is still less than a year old, meaning it still offers a wide range of up to date features.
The Galaxy Watch 4, offers a huge range of sensors and features, making it great to sync with your other Galaxy devices and excellent for working out.
If you don't have other Samsung Galaxy devices, there are other smartwatch options available on the market that may be preferable.
For example, if you're an iPhone user, you may be better suited to the Apple Watch 7 or Apple Watch SE.
