Rumours recently emerged that a new Splinter Cell title is in the works. Reportedly greenlit by Ubisoft, further speculation's now arisen about what the game could offer once it arrives, notably about its inspirations.

Now, GamesBeat's Jeff Grubb has shared what he's heard about the rumoured Splinter Cell game. Allegedly, this rumoured title will take on gameplay elements from Hitman combined, stating:

"The testers did not spend a lot of time with the possible Splinter Cell game. Ubisoft provided a vertical slice that was just a basic tutorial section. But this version of the game combined familiar Splinter Cell action with elements of the 2016 Hitman reboot. This does not mean this is the same game that Ubisoft greenlit. The publisher is likely always testing and considering new possibilities for its upcoming games. And any eventual Splinter Cell release may look nothing like this secret prototype from early 2021."

Although Grubb's statement gives a further indication of the game's development, it isn't clear which elements are inspired by 2016's Hitman reboot. The Gamer reports that "some are speculating that it means the massive open levels for players to explore and stealth around in."
