It’s that time of the month again. The Call of Duty complaints department is open for business! April is typically a quiet time for the Call of Duty franchise but in the cases of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, the cycle shows no signs of slowing down.

Throughout the month, the launch of Season 3 delivered a wealth of updates to multiplayer and the battle royale. Although Warzone 2 fans were hoping major movement changes would improve the game, it quickly became clear that they didn’t have their desired effect. As for Modern Warfare 2, the addition of Black Gold as a multiplayer map couldn’t stop players from claiming the game features the worst maps in the entire franchise.

What else has got the Call of Duty community talking this month? Before we take a closer look, take a look at our guides showcasing the current Warzone 2 meta and the best Modern Warfare 2 ranked play loadouts for competitive action.

5. Throwing it back to 2009

On April 12, 2023, Activision unveiled a store bundle that sends you back in time and on a trip down memory lane. The Throwback Pack: ‘09 Weapon Audio Bundle transforms all weapon audio so it sounds like 2009’s Modern Warfare 2.

So, if you want the best FJX Imperium loadout to sound like the iconic Intervention, you’re in luck!

4. Activision and Microsoft hit another hurdle

Microsoft’s multi-billion-dollar acquisition of Activision continues to rumble on. Despite making plenty of concessions in a bid to force the deal through, the UK regulator has decided to block the deal.

Citing concerns with the future of cloud gaming, the regulator’s decision means Microsoft will have to appeal the decision which could take several months. It could be a while before we see Call of Duty on Game Pass.

3. Scoring nukes with lag switches

At three is a whole new meaning to pay-to-win. Scoring a nuke in Warzone 2 requires plenty of coordination and skill. In an attempt to make the process easier, hackers are charging players to create lag so the Champion’s Quest goes off without a hitch.

As expected, those getting kicked out of the action are far from impressed but Ricochet is bound to catch the culprits sooner rather than later.

2. Warzone 2 streamers boycotting the game

With Season 3 struggling to address several issues in Warzone 2, numerous content creators decided to return to Caldera and drop into Warzone 1. Many were quick to notice the huge difference in pace and the ability to outplay their opponents through movement.

The boycott didn’t last very long. After a few days, content creators were already returning to Al Mazrah and Ashika Island and already speculating what Season 3 Reloaded will have in store.

1. Cheaters ruining ranked play

Taking the top spot in April’s Call of Duty complaints department are Modern Warfare 2 hackers! Despite Ricochet anti-cheat delivering new deterrents in recent weeks, the higher divisions are riddled with cheaters.

The upper echelons of ranked play should contain the best players in the world rather than cheaters. Let’s hope Activision can crack down on them before the situation becomes too hot to handle.

The Call of Duty complaints department is now closed! We’ll return in May for a closer look at the gripes and important news that got CoD players talking. Can Season 3 Reloaded deliver the changes many fans want? We’ll have to wait and see.
