While some GTA players are already looking forward to GTA 6, others are still trying to make the most of their remaining time in Los Santos.

One way to do just that is by installing some mods to spice up your story mode shenanigans via things like Baywatch-inspired missions, intense new heists or even the chance to accurately simulate working at a gas station.

If you’re someone who’s already blazed through GTA Online’s Last Dose missions and now fancy a return to story mode, instead of grinding to add some incredibly expensive vehicles to your collection, a new mod, which will be right up the alley of those who crave realism, might be worth taking a look at.

Fancy adding a bit of extra challenge to GTA 5 by trying to avoid getting peckish mid-gunfight?

The mod in question is called ‘[FDNC] Inventory V / Food, Drugs, Needs & Crafting’ and is the work of modder M8T, whose previous projects have brought a number of extra heist missions to the game, just in case you didn’t get your fill during its main story.

This time, they’ve decided to ditch bombastic robberies in favour of adding a number of more mundane systems to GTA 5 that’ll seemingly help it feel a bit more immersive for those who like to take their criminal role-playing to the next level.

The most interesting of these new mechanics is a survival-style needs system, which will monitor how hungry, thirsty and sleepy your character is, encouraging you to better mimic a realistic lifestyle, rather than driving directly from mission to mission without stopping to take a breather.

That said, unless you’re in need of a nap, you won’t necessarily have to head home every time you see one of the alerts pop up, as the mod adds a bunch of new ways for you to acquire food and drink that’ll quench your appetite, by visiting an array of shops and restaurants it transforms into functional vendors of these items.

On the other hand, if you want to keep your character at peak fitness, so that they can actually outrun the police attention their antics will inevitably attract, you’ll also have the option of cooking up your own recipes from purchasable ingredients.

In order to channel your inner Gordon Ramsay, you’ll need to head to the kitchen of one of the properties included in another of M8T’s recent works, ‘Home Ownership V / Own a Safehouse’.

All of your eating, drinking and cooking will seemingly be executed via an array of animations included in the mod, though some of these look to be a bit janky.

If you’re still up for making your GTA life a bit more like The Sims, you’ll seemingly need to grab the likes of Alexander Blade’s ‘Script Hook V + Native Trainer’ and Open IV beforehand.

Regardless of whether you’re now having Michael whip up some tasty grub for the group before they head off to rob the Union Depository, make sure to follow us for more GTA 6 and GTA Online updates as new vehicles and more arrive.
