When they’re not playing with drones, fiddling with their power armour or decorating their settlements, Fallout 4’s Sole Survivor can often be found fending off the many dangers of The Commonwealth.

Whether it’s pre-war Chinese soldiers lurking below the soil or fearsome raider bosses looking for their next victim, the sheer range of enemies inhabiting the wasteland makes just staying alive a minor miracle.

If you’re a vault dweller who has learned to enjoy venturing into the wasteland’s most treacherous regions to hunt glory with your trusty laser pistol, assault rifle or explosive launcher, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.

Feel like Fallout 4’s most irradiated areas need some fresh denizens for you to hunt?

The mod in question is called ‘Radical - COA Addons’ and is the work of modder RascalArt. Their previous projects have helped add a wide range of other interesting adversaries to the game, including massive mechanised faction troops and menacing alien invaders.

This time, they’ve decided to add some fresh foes and creatures to highly irradiated areas of the game and its DLC, such as the Glowing Sea and the wilds of Far Harbor, along with some cool new weapons.

With the mod installed, wandering into a radioactive area might see you ambushed by a swarm of mutated fireflies, some feral ghouls that spit contaminated goo or, if you’re particularly unlucky, a horror movie-worthy Fog Haunter.

If you’re in Far Harbor, heading for The Nucleus in order to escape one of these creatures could see you come face to face with a new type of Child of Atom in the form of an exo-frame wearing Strident Zealot armed with a bolt rifle that fires irradiated nails or a shard cannon that lobs radioactive rocks.

The mod also contains a new faction called ‘The Divided’, made up of banished Children of Atom who’re teetering on the edge of becoming feral ghouls, with some resembling regular raiders and others, dubbed ‘Atom Blessed’, wielding heavy weapons and bulky armour fashioned from felled wasteland beasts.

Regardless of whether your Sole Survivor is now having to check if their hair is falling out following a skirmish with one of these irradiated invaders, make sure to follow us for more updates on interesting mods like this one for Skyrim and Cyberpunk 2077.
